A special Sky Watch programme      

These days, the planets Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, and Venus are visible in the pre-dawn sky. On 7th January 2016 Moon, Saturn and Venus will be close to each other and present a beautiful sight. Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is making arrangements to show all these five objects through telescopes, subject to clear skies. Arrangement will be from 4.30 am till Sunrise. Public are requested to make use of this arrangement.

To commemorate the birthday of Prof. Srinivasa Ramanujan, the great Indian Mathematician and Theorist, a workshop on 'Mathematics' has been organized for school students on 22nd Dec 2015 between 10.30 am and 1 pm. Charges Rs.150/- per head.

A three-day science exhibition will be held on 27th, 28th and 29th of November 2015 between 10.30am & 4.30pm. Entry is Free.

A Press Meet is planned at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium on the 29th September, 2015 in connection with the ASTROSAT launch on the 28th September, 2015. The astronomers will brief the Press and answer queries in connection with this event for information of the Public. The Meet will begin at 1500 hrs.

"Jantar Mantar - Observatories of Jai Singh"       

Prof. S Balachandra Rao, Bhavan's Gandhi Centre of Science and Human Values, Bengaluru has released the pop-up book "Jantar Mantar - Observatories of Jai Singh" (Bilingual in English & Kannada by Dr. B S Shylaja and Prof. V S S Sastry) on 22.09.2015. This book is aimed at understanding the functioning of the Observatories established by Sawai Jai Singh almost 250 years ago. The necessary basics are explained using pop-up pages. Price:Rs.500/-
