Science Club Activity for high school students is scheduled on 10th Sept 2017 between 4 pm and 5.15 pm at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. Entry is Free.

A Special Lecture      

To celebrate the Teachers' Day, a special talk on "The amazing Story of Our Daystar" by Prof P Venkatakrishnan, Honorary Professor, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru, is arranged at the planetarium on 9th September 2017 between 10.30 am and 1 pm. The Talk will be followed by: Introduction to two books written by Prof Venkatakrishnan and Skytheatre Show.

Celebration of the Month      

This month, we are celebrating Ernest Rutherford's birth anniversary on August 30th under the programme entitled "Celebration of the Month" for the benefit of the teachers of member schools and others. The programme basically focuses on discussing the contributions of Ernest Rutherford in the field of Nuclear Physics using some analogous experiments. Date: 30th August 2017 Timings: 10.30 am to 12.30 pm No. of Participants: 40 Registration Fee: Free Last date for registration : 29th August 2017 Note: Registration is done on first come first serve basis.

Kaapi With Kuriosity lecture      

Kaapi with Kuriosity lecture entitled "Fluids everywhere - flows on all scales" by Prof. Julia Mary Yeomans is scheduled on 6th August 2017 (Sunday) at 4 pm at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium.

Know Your Stars      

A sky gazing programme entitled KNOW YOUR STARS on 06.08.2017 (Sunday) at 6.30 pm. Charges Rs.30/- per head.

Workshop for Teachers      

One-day workshop on 'Soap Bubbles' for high school maths/science teachers is scheduled on 3rd August 2017 between 10.30 am & 4.30 pm. Registration fee is Rs.250/- per head.

Kaapi With Kuriosity lecture      

Kaapi with Kuriosity lecture entitled "The Arrow of Time in Quantum Measurement" by Prof. Kater Murch, Faculty, Washington University, is scheduled on 23rd July 2017 (Sunday) at 4 pm at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium.

Two-day workshop on 'Mathematics' for high school maths teachers is scheduled on 20th & 21st July 2017 between 10.30 am & 3.30 pm. Registration fee is Rs.500/-.

Robert Hooke's Birth Anniversary       

We are introducing a new programme entitled "Celebration of the Month" for the benefit of the teachers of member schools and others. We plan here to celebrate the Birth anniversaries of scientists or the scientific events that had taken place in that month. This month, we are celebrating Robert Hooke's birth anniversary on July 18th. The programme basically focuses on discussing the contributions of Robert Hooke in the field of Physics, Biology and Astronomy.

Science Club for High School Students       Click here for more..

Science Club is scheduled to be held every second Sunday of the month. It is mainly targeted at the high school students studying in classes VIII-X in order to develop scientific temper among them. Discussions involving concepts of science in understanding significant events and phenomenon will be taken up. Topics as diverse as earth quakes, gravitation, nuclear energy, etc will be understood through examples and audio-visual aids.

Celebrating 'Asteroid Day' on 30th June       Click here for more..

J N planetarium, Bengaluru is celebrating the 'Asteroid Day' with lectures on asteroids and on Meteors, An exhibition of over 20 meteors collected from India and outside and a poster exhibition. Lectures are aimed at high school teachers. Interested members of public can also attend. Interested Teachers are requested to register with the planetarium on or before June 28th for lectures as entry is limited. There is no registration charge. Rare exhibition of meteorites and poster exhibition are open between 10.30am and 4.30pm. Members of public and students can make use of the opportunity. Entry to the exhibition is free.
