Kaapi With Kuriosity      

Kaapi With Kuriosity public lecture entitled "Great Triumphs and False Stories" by Prof. Roddam Narasimha on 8th Oct 2017 at 4 pm in Planetarium.

Science Club is scheduled to be held every second Sunday of the month. It is mainly targeted at the high school students studying in classes VIII-XII in order to develop scientific temper among them. Discussions involving concepts of science in understanding significant events and phenomenon will be taken up. Topics as diverse as earth quakes, gravitation, nuclear energy, etc will be understood through examples and audio-visual aids.

Know Your Stars       

A sky gazing programme entitled KNOW YOUR STARS on 01.10.2017 (Sunday) at 6.30 pm. Charges Rs.30/- per head.

Workshop for Students      

A special workshop is scheduled from 4th to 6th October 2017 between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm for students of classes VI and VII. Discussing some of the scientific concepts related to air, sound, centre of gravity etc. through activities and experiments is the main objective of the programme.Registration fee is Rs.500/- per head.

Celebration of the Month      

This month, we are celebrating Enrico Fermi's birth anniversary on September 27th under the programme entitled "Celebration of the Month" for the benefit of the teachers of member schools and others. The programme basically focuses on discussing the contributions of Enrico Fermi in the field of Nuclear Physics.

Monthly Science Movie entitled "Wonders of Life : What is Life" on 24th September 2017 at 5 pm.

Science Watch - "Gravitational Waves"      

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium (JNP) has prepared a short audio-visual presentation on "Gravitational Waves". It is being shown before the commencement of the regular planetarium show. The presentation highlights the contribution of Indian researchers to the first direct detection of Gravitational Waves, including that of Prof. C V Vishveshwara, the Founder Director of JNP who passed away recently. The programme will be shown over the next couple of months.

A Special Lecture      

To celebrate the Teachers' Day, a special talk on "The amazing Story of Our Daystar" by Prof P Venkatakrishnan, Honorary Professor, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru, is arranged at the planetarium on 9th September 2017 between 10.30 am and 1 pm. The Talk will be followed by: Introduction to two books written by Prof Venkatakrishnan and Skytheatre Show.

We are introducing a new programme entitled "Celebration of the Month" for the benefit of the teachers of member schools and others. We plan here to celebrate the Birth anniversaries of scientists or the scientific events that had taken place in that month. This month, we are celebrating Robert Hooke's birth anniversary on July 18th. The programme basically focuses on discussing the contributions of Robert Hooke in the field of Physics, Biology and Astronomy.
