J N Planetarium, Bengaluru is celebrating the 'Asteroid Day' with lectures on asteroids and on Meteors, An exhibition of over 20 meteorite samples collected from India and outside and a poster exhibition. A lecture is organized at 2 pm by Dr. Bharat Adur, Director, Akash Ganga Centre for Astronomy, Mumbai titled 'Detection of Meteorites and Methods of Analysis' aimed towards college students. A public lecture by Dr. Narendra Bhandari, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, titled 'Falling Stones, Colliding Asteroids and Secrets of the Universe' is scheduled at 4:30 pm for the public.

Interested college students are requested to register with the planetarium on or before June 28th for lectures as entry is limited. There is no registration charge. All are welcome for the public lecture. Rare exhibition of meteorites and poster exhibition are open between 10.30am and 4.30pm. Members of public and students can make use of the opportunity. Entry to the exhibition is free.

Teachers' Meeting is scheduled to be held on 23rd Jun 2018 between 11 am and 12 noon. The year long programme content as well as their schedule will be discussed at the meeting. Entry is free.

Science Club is scheduled to be held every second Sunday of the month. It is mainly targeted at the students studying in classes VIII-XII in order to develop scientific temper among them. Interested public can also attend the session. Objective of the session is to understand natural and artificial satellites, their roles and influences for mankind.Entry is free.

Kaapi With Kuriosity      

Kaapi With Kuriosity lecture series entitled "How quantum physics democratised music: a meditation on physics and technology" by Prof. Michael Berry (University of Bristol, UK), is scheduled on 10.06.2018 at 4 pm at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium.

Astrophography Image Processing       Click here for more..

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is conducting an intensive one-day workshop on image processing, for the public with several processing examples. Examples are drawn from the thirteen Sky Photo Trips conducted by Shri Ajay Talwar, a renowned astrophotographer. Your own examples of successes and failures will also be taken up for discussion. The workshop is not a power point presentation, but involves working on actual images, data sets. The workshop will be conducted by Shri Ajay Talwar.
