Children at a very young age are introduced to the methods of science, by hands on activities.

The programmes carried out during the summer vacation introduce science through recreational activities, experiments and discussions. They are less rigorous than those conducted over the weekends.

Tiny Tots:  Students of classes III to V are eligible: scientific concepts related to light, colour, sound, simple machines and mathematics are discussed through recreational activities.

Maximum Number of students: 20
Duration: Ten working Days
Timings: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

Elder group of students have three to four different programs running through the summer vacation.

BASE camp: The basic aim of this programme is to provide experiential learning. Students of classes VI and VII comprise the junior group and those of classes VIII to X comprise the senior group. They are introduced to scientific concepts through experiments. Over a period of ten days, children perform experiments in several topics. As part of the programme, each year, students work on one project such as Building a working model of a rocket, water-filled rocket and recycling waste.

Maximum Number of students: 40 in each group
Duration: Ten working Days

Computer-aided Learning: Elementary principles of computer programming are taught to students of classes VIII to X, which are then applied to mathematics, geometry in particular, to sharpen those skills simultaneously learning concepts of geometry.

Maximum Number of students: 20
Duration: Ten working Days

Summer Course: This is a fifteen day course with an interdisciplinary approach to learning a certain topic. Topics such as ‘Light and Vision’; ‘Sound and Hearing’; ‘Water’; ‘Structure, Form and Function’ are discussed through relevant subtopics drawn from astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, geology and so on. This approach enables  students to appreciate a certain topic in a holistic manner.

Wherever it is possible and relevant, field trips are arranged to provide a practical experience.

Special lectures by medical doctors are arranged to provide health education to the students. Apart from lectures, the immensely popular and highly motivating science video lecture series entitled ‘Christmas Lectures’ are screened.

Maximum Number of students: 40
Duration: Fifteen working Days

One-day Workshops for High School students

One day workshops for high school students are conducted on Sundays during the summer vacation. These are activity and discussion-oriented sessions wherein students learn several things about a certain topic such as ‘Science of Soap Bubbles’; ‘Science of Candles’; ‘Recreational Mathematics’.

From Web of Life to the Universe

A ten-day long program for college students gives an introduction to the various hot topics of research.

This course of lectures is aimed at introducing undergraduate students to frontier areas of research in different fields. Faculty from various research institutes convey the joy of doing research and many interesting results at a level that college-going students can understand and appreciate.

Apart from lectures, the immensely popular and highly motivating science video lecture series entitled ‘Christmas Lectures’ are screened.

Maximum Number of students: 40
Duration: Ten working Days
Timings: 10:30 am to 3:30 pm

All these activities serve as seeds for growing in to trees of scientific methods of approach irrespective of the branch of knowledge the students choose later in their life.
